~* * * PLAYING THE GAME * * *
~ Quote Fall is a simple game to play. The game is played with
the computer selecting a Quote and displaying it in the top part
of the box in a mixed form. You then drop these letters down to
the bottom part of the box to try to form the Quote.
The Computer selects one Quote a day so that all players will
be solving the same Quote.
The playing area is made up of one grid of 24 rectangle boxes
positioned at the top, and another grid of 96 small boxes which
are 4 high and 24 wide positioned underneath.
The top 24 rectangle boxes hold the quote in it's mixed form.
They each will hold zero to four characters, depending on the
quote. Each of the characters in these boxes will fit in one of
the small boxes directly beneath it, staying in it's own column.
The object of the game is to drop all the letters in the upper
rectangle boxes down into the 96 small boxes which will or should,
depending on your accuracy, form a quote. You try to do this with
the fewest misses and mistakes as possible.
Any boxes with a '■' little square box represent a space in
the quote. Also when forming words, words can wrap to the next
line. And do not always wrap on a space.
A '█' block is used as a cursor which marks your position. Use
the 2, 4, 6 and 8 keys to move it around. It will not stop on top
of the '■' space block. To drop a letter move the cursor block to
the desired location and press the letter of the character to
drop.

~ Undo Feature: If you drop a letter into a box and then decide
you didn't want to, simply select the Undo option by striking
the '?' question mark key. This will place the letter back in
mixed quote box from where it came. This feature must be used
before any other letters are dropped.
Note: This option will not work after a Check Quote command.
Mistake Feature: This feature is simular to the Undo command
except it will work at any time and cost you a miss. This is for
making corrections when you need to.
[+] Activate Feature: This command is used to make the lower
prompt commands active. Since dropping of character are done by
typing the letter you wish to drop, this leaves no room for other
prompts. So simply type a '+' Plus Sign to activate the other
prompts when needed.
[C]heck Quote Command: Selecting this command will cause the
game to examine your quote. It will return information which
tells you how many boxes are correct, how many mistakes, how many
blanks out of the possible total and how many misses you have
made. This is also ran at the end of the game when the last
letter has been dropped or you quit the game.
[R]edraw Command: Selecting the redraw command simply redraws
the screen. This is in case a burst of line noise destorts the
screen and it needs to be straightened.
[H]elp Command: Selecting this command will show you what your
reading now.
[Q]uit Command: Selecting this command allows you to quit the
game before completing. If you choose this, your score will be
total'd and you will exit the game. Note: You will not ne able
to return to the game later to finish.
[A]nsi/Ascii Command: Selecting this will toggle Ansi Color
and Mono screens.
[D]eactivate Keys Command: This command is to deactivate the
prompt keys to return to play. This is useful only when you
select the '+' Activate Command and then don't select any other
command.
Note: All commands on this alternate prompt line will return
the prompt line to inactive after use.

~ Scoring is based on the number of actual characters contained
in the quote. Each Character dropped to it's correct position is
worth 100 points. Below is a summary of scoring:
~CORRECT Character = Plus 100
~MISSED Character = Minus 250
~MISTAKES Character = Minus 250
~BLANK Space = 0
~ Bonus points are given according to the number of misses you
made during the game. Below is a Bonus Point summary:
~MISSES BONUS
0 1000
1 to 2 500
3 to 4 300
5 100
~ NOTE: If you complete the Quote with out any misses then you
have completed a Perfect Game.
NOTE: The difference between a MISSED and a MISTAKE is that a
MISSED is a letter moved back to the top box with the '!' mistake
option because of incorrect postioning and a WRONG is a letter
that is left in the WRONG place. Both is minus 250 in score but
by taking the miss and correcting the wrong you will recieve 100
for the correct letter.
At the bottom of the game screen is your SCORE box and your
monthly total is placed here before play, and is updated after
the game is completed or you quit.

~ In the Registered Version of Quote Fall the sysop is given the
ability to enable or disable the Make-Up Missed Days and the Play
Ahead Features.
The Makeup missed days allows you to make up any days that you
may have missed. Likewise, the Play Ahead Feature allow you to
play days ahead. This feature is meant to be used in a case where
you know in advance you will not be able to play on a certain day
or a period of days. Therefore you could play them ahead of time
and still not miss out. The Sysop can select a day of the month
to allow this feature to be activated.
When these features are active the game will prompt you if you
what to check for these days. If you do then a calendar is shown
marking the days of the month with X's, O's and U's for days that
have been played, days missed and unplayable days. Just select
any day with an 'O' to make up or play ahead that day.
Note: All missed days must be made up before you can use the
Play Ahead Feature.
